Interactive workshop

A powerful tool for healing and raising awareness

The “Circle and the Box” workshop is a powerful instrument of awareness and healing created in 1990 by Jann Derrick.

In this exercise, you’ll be asked to take on roles within a pre-colonial Indigenous society and experience, as a group, the ongoing impact of colonial policy over the decades.

Over a three-hour period, our goal is to give you an in-depth experience of the impact, both historical and contemporary, of assimilation policies in Canada.

Our “interactive” workshop requires maximum participation for maximum impact.
