Moccasins
Moccasins symbolize the empathy and humility needed to learn. “If you walk in my moccasins,” you develop a better understanding of others. They embody our knowledge, our creativity and the experiences that mark our path, always linked to nature. The circle represents interconnection and our Indigenous thought patterns.

Education and Awareness-Building

Mikana is committed to promoting inclusive education and awareness, offering conferences, workshops and training based on the knowledge and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples. The organization challenges colonial structures and promotes the reappropriation of narrative sovereignty.

Mikana develops and makes available to the general public free tools and resources to facilitate access to our shared history of colonization.

The tiger butterfly
The butterfly symbolizes community and interconnection, guided towards collective transformation. It evokes migration and metamorphosis, perfectly reflecting the idea of youth empowerment.

Youth Empowerment

The Mikana Ambassadors program aims to empower Indigenous youth by providing them with practical tools and a platform to express and value their cultural identity. The program aims to build authentic, lasting bridges between Indigenous and non-indigenous communities, fostering mutual understanding and respect for cultural diversity.

Meet our Ambassadors!

The strawberry cycle
La fraise incarne un symbole puissant de changement, de croissance collective et de guérison. Elle reflète notre survivance et notre respect pour le territoire et ses cycles naturels. Le changement systémique doit être enraciné dans nos savoirs ancestraux.

Systemic and sustainable changes

Mikana is committed to establishing collaborative relationships with organizations that wish to achieve profound systemic change. We place particular emphasis on decolonizing institutional structures and promoting Indigenous rights, while fully respecting and recognizing Indigenous knowledge and traditions. Through these partnerships, we cultivate strong, lasting bonds that foster genuine, respectful transformation.

Make a commitment today for an inclusive and equitable future.
